The first deputy prime minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, on his recent trip to the UAE discussed visa issues with the country’s officials, his office said.

This comes as the traders complained that they are facing problems getting visas issued to the UAE.  

“The problems of the visas have been discussed with the Islamic Emirate officials. The problem of visas will be solved in the near future and the flights will be resumed,” said Obaidullah Sadar Khail, head of Afghanistan’s trader council in the UAE.  

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the resumption of visa-issuing by the UEA will boost trade activities between the two countries.  

“It will affect our trade and our business. Some traders go to the UEA to invest or to import commodities,” said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI. 

The traders welcomed the distribution of visas by the UEA.  

“We—the traders--welcome this step and hope it will be implemented soon,” said Farid Ruhani, an Afghan trader in the UAE.  

After the fall of the former government, all countries except Pakistan and Iran have halted visa distribution to Afghans.  

However, there are expectations that the Islamic Emirate will resume the process of the visa issuing to the Afghans.  

According to available figures, more than $10 billion has been invested by the Afghans in the UAE.
