Claims of a Terrorist Presence in Afghanistan Are Propaganda: Muttaqi

The acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said that the remarks about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan is propagandas against the Islamic Emirate.

Speaking at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad ISSI, Muttaqi said that Afghanistan, China and Pakistan committed to not allow the use of their soil or airspace against each other.

Muttaqi said that no can prove there are any terrorist groups in Afghanistan. Referring to the tensions between Pakistan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), he said there was a long history to this before the Islamic Emirate came to power.

He said that the Islamic Emirate “has not allowed and is not allowing” the TTP to use Afghan soil against Pakistan.

“We will never allow anyone to use Afghan soil against others and we have succeeded in this regard over the past years,” Muttaqi said.

Muttaqi said that efforts are underway to reopen foreign embassies in Kabul.

He also said the presence of the Islamic Emirate’s representatives in international conferences are important.

“We are officially invited here. We have attended official meetings. Our visits to Pakistan are official. The question about not announcing recognition should be asked of them,” he said.

Analysts discussed the main reason for Muttaqi's visit to Pakistan.

“The Pakistanis are hopping to solve their economic and internal problems which are posed by the TTP, through intimacy with Afghanistan,” said Zalmay Afghanyar, political analyst.

“Doesn’t matter how developed and how politically stable a country is in this region, if Afghanistan is not safe, they will be affected,” said Najibullah Jami, political analyst..

On his visit to Pakistan, Muttaqi held meetings with the country's officials including the Chief of Army Staffs of Pakistan, Asim Munir.
