Waziristan Refugees to Be Relocated in North, South, Center: Mujahid

The Islamic Emirate’s spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that the Waziristan refugees will be relocated in the north, south and central areas of Afghanistan.

Mujahid said that the relocation of these refugees will not cause threats to any province of the country and that it is also not “based on racism,” but the decision was made to ensure the interest of both countries—Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He said that the refugees are common people and that this will not cause racism against other ethnicities in the country.

“The refugees who were close to the Durand line, not all of them, but a few of them who caused concerns, will be taken to the central, southern and northern provinces, so they are also under control,” Mujahid said.

The refugees from Waziristan meanwhile complained about their relocation to other areas, saying that they are satisfied with their current conditions.

“Since we arrived here in 2014, we have engaged in construction here. Here is our land, house and everything. We don’t want to go anywhere,” said Fazul Rahman, a refugee from Waziristan.

“We don’t go anywhere. We have made a house here. We are happy here and do not want to go to other provinces,” said Madras Khan, a refugee from Waziristan.

Political analysts gave various opinions in this regard:

“Whatever is important should be clarified --about  which ethnic group is being shifted. It is a controversial issue that they come from the other side of the border to Afghan soil. If this issue is not clarified, it may bring consequences and cause insecurity,” said Mustafa Murtazavi, a university instructor.

“The refugees who came from Waziristan to Afghanistan should complete some measures. We cannot bring every refugee here. Afghanistan is in a situation where any group can come and cause security problems for Afghanistan and the region,” said Zakiullah Mohammadi, political analyst.

Earlier, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, said that the move aims to assure Islamabad that the refugees are not involved in attacks against the Pakistani government.
