The Russian foreign ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced the holding of a "Moscow Format" meeting on September 29.
The Russian foreign ministry's spokesperson said in a press conference that the "Moscow Format" is to be held in the city of Kazan, Russia, and the countries of the region will discuss the current situation in Afghanistan including intra-Afghan issues, reconciliation, security and post-conflict restoration of the country.
“I would like to confirm it will take place on September 29 at Kazan. It will be another, a fifth, Moscow Format meeting consultation on Afghanistan with the participation of key regional stakeholders," Zakharova said.
The Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, said Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign ninister has been invited to this meeting.
Mujahid said that they welcome any meeting that benefits Afghanistan.
"Afghanistan's participation in international meetings is crucial. If not, the meeting won't produce the desired results since the position of Afghanistan and the Afghan system is significant and directly influences the decisions,” Mujahid noted.
According to some political analysts, holding such meetings is beneficial in the current situation of the country.
"We hope that the Islamic Emirate will participate in it, because we need international relations very much, since it is important and we should take advantage of the opportunity,” said Moin Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.
This will be the fifth round of the “Moscow Format” consultative meeting about Afghanistan.
