Remarks of Nadim Regarding Education of Girls in Afghanistan

The acting minister of higher education, Neda Mohammad Nadim, said that foreigners do not have good will regarding the education of girls in Afghanistan.

Speaking at a meeting at Kunduz University, Nadim said that the freezing of Afghan assets by the US has had a negative effect on the lives of people, especially women.

"Women were at home. In front of her, you (foreigners) killed her father and husband. These women, who are now living at home, are facing homelessness. You froze their capital. Is this capital from the people or the Taliban?" Naidm said.

The acting minister of higher education further stated that efforts are being made to improve the capacity of university professors in the country.

“All of our professors can't go abroad; we don't like that all of them go abroad. They should continue to improve their capacity inside Afghanistan. A few months ago, when we had a council, many things were agreed, master's and doctorate programs. We allocated 450 million afghani as a budget for the promotion of professors for this year. This is the right of the professors and the students,” he said.

Meanwhile, some Kunduz University teachers and students asked the acting minister of higher education to address the issues at their university.

"There are issues like dorm problems, library problems because we don't have new books, internet problems that should be given to the students, and professional lecturers should teach us so that we can become professionals and benefit society,” said Abdul Samad Salimi, professor at Kunduz University.

"There is a need in terms of providing more educational facilities. Another urgent need is the development of a well-equipped and specialized library, and the standardization of the teaching environment," stated Shah Marai, a student at the University of Kunduz.

Previously, the acting minister of higher education in his speeches had talked about sending delegations to various countries for returning the Afghan professors who went abroad to the country and attracting foreign professors.
