Death Toll of Yesterday's Blast Increases to 4 People

The death toll from last night’s blast in a market in PD18 of Kabul is now 4, and 7 others were injured, according to the spokesman for the Kabul security department, Khalid Zadran.

Zadran said that an investigation has been launched into the blast, which happened in the Dashte Barche area.

Ahmad Zia, 15, who was an athlete, is one of the four killed. According to his family, Zia wanted to bring a medal to his country from international competitions.

“It was between 5:30 or 6:00pm, I was in Pul-e Sokhta and heading home. I reached the Naqash area when I heard a blast,” said Saayed Habib, the father of Zia.

“I was with him around 7:00pm. We were going to a wedding ceremony. I told him let’s go, he said, no, I am going to the club,” said Mohammad Naseem, a friend of Ahmad Zia.

Meanwhile, the people who attended the funeral ceremony of Ahmad Zia, called on the interim government to provide security in public spaces, including sport clubs and academic centers.

“We call on the Islamic Emirate to pay attention to the security in mosques and other religious places,’ said Mehdi, a resident of Kabul.

Associated Press has reported that Daesh took responsibility for the explosion on Thursday in a sports club in PD18 of Kabul.
