The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with theTashkent State Agrarian University in Tashkent.
The delegation of the Islamic Emirate, during their visit to Uzbekistan, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Tashkent State Agrarian University to improve the capacity of Afghan farmers.
Mesbahuddin Mustaeen, the spokesperson of the ministry, said that on the basis of this memorandum, more than fifty Afghan farmers will be provided with professional training in Uzbekistan.
"They have signed a memorandum that sixty specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the Islamic Emirate will go to Uzbekistan for short and long-term training and benefit from their experiences in the field of agriculture," Mustaeen said.
At the same time, the Chamber of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock called the signing of this memorandum important for creating employment and added that memorandums have been signed with Uzbekistan on other sectors as well.
"The fourth memorandum is about drip gardens, like grape gardens, they can cooperate with us. Our agriculture will grow from this and on the other side, this will provide working opportunities for the farmers of our country, and our income will increase," said Mirwais Haji Zada, deputy of the Chamber of Agriculture and Irrigation.
Meanwhile, some economic analysts believe that increasing relations in the agricultural sector with neighboring countries is beneficial for Afghanistan.
"Cooperation and participation of neighboring countries, especially Uzbekistan with Afghanistan, can improve food and nutrition security and increase domestic production," said Seyar Quraishi, economic analyst.
MAIL had previously said that a delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry had gone to Uzbekistan to discuss attracting investment and developing cooperation in the agricultural sector.
