Two Qatari Aircraft With Humanitarian Aid Arrived in Herat

Two more Qatari aircraft carrying humanitarian assistance arrived in Herat on Tuesday.

The assistance, which includes health supplies, food material and blankets, is intended to be provided to the victims of the earthquakes in Herat.

“This is the second aircraft of humanitarian assistance that has arrived, and another aircraft will arrive in Herat. The earthquake affected people in Herat are our Muslim brothers and we will help them as much as we can,” said Mashal Hajiri, a Qatari aid official.

The assistance was handed over to the Afghan Red Crescent Society.

Yar Mohammad Farooqi, head of the ARCS in western zone, said that the process of aid distribution to the earthquake affected people in Herat has begun.

“There have been a lot of needs, and this assistance is not sufficient. We are urging the charity committee, aid organizations, and the international community to help with the refugees expelled from Pakistan and the earthquake affected people of Herat,” he said.

Some of the residents of Herat meanwhile stressed the need for fair distribution of assistance to the vulnerable people in the province.

“We request that this assistance be distributed to the people in need,” said Nisar Ahmad, a resident of Herat.

“The assistance arrived from Qatar may be provided to the people who deserve it because the people have a lower financial capacity,” said Mahmood, a resident of Herat.

Last week a Qatar aircraft carrying humanitarian assistance arrived in Herat.
