The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in his new report titled: “The situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security” addressed issues including political progress, security, regional cooperation, human rights, and humanitarian aid.
This report mentioned that demands to establish a comprehensive government in Afghanistan have been ignored by the Islamic Emirate, and the rights of women and girls have also been limited.
The report said: “While girls and young women are reportedly able to access all-female madrasas, UNAMA has been unable to verify the numbers of girls studying in these institutions or the quality of the education provided, particularly with regard to whether it includes modern subjects and leads to the same opportunities as those provided to boys.”
According to this report, armed conflicts in 2023 have decreased by 41% compared to last year, and the armed opposition has not been able to create any challenge for the Islamic Emirate in the field of land management in Afghanistan.
At the same time, the report said that 65 civilians were killed and 125 civilians were injured in the attacks and explosions of the last three months in Afghanistan.
"The explosions that took place in the past are not in Afghanistan now and have decreased, and there is no armed war in Afghanistan, which means that security is ensured in Afghanistan in general," said Aziz Maarej, an analyst.
The Islamic Emirate has not yet reacted to this report.
The UN Secretary-General has also said in his report that the economic situation of Afghanistan is fragile and from December 2021 to October 15, 2023, about $3.23 billion dollars have been transferred to Afghanistan.
