The process of accepting paper applications to get a passport was stopped today (Sunday) by the Passport Directorate.

The General Directorate of Passports in a statement announced that this process has been stopped due to the complaints of the people of the area about the chaos of the requestors, the lack of convenience and the cold weather.

Meanwhile, the residents of Kabul expressed criticism about the slow processing of passport distribution.

Rahman, 30, who is struggling with heart disease, said that he is forced to go out of Afghanistan for treatment but has not yet been able to get a passport.

“We are requesting that the passport department take the decision regarding these people,” he said.

“There are a lot of problems. When we go to receive a passport, it takes us so long. It takes us one-year long until we receive it,” said Mohammad Gul, a passport applicant.  

The statement from the General Directorate of Passport added that work continues to activate four more passport distribution centers in Kabul.

Nearly two weeks ago, the General Directorate of Passport began the process of paper passport application, but it announced on Sunday that the process has been stopped.
