Applicants for Islamic Emirate Forces Increasing: Official

Abdul Hakim Hemat Akhundzada, the commander of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Interior, said that the number of applicants to join the Islamic Emirate’s forces has tripled.

The commander of the academy said that this year the provinces will be prioritized.

“Some provinces like Zabul (will be prioritized), the province from where only 7 people have been recruited into the Police Academy, 9 people from Paktia and 29 people from Jawzjan province were recruited in the past ten years,” Abdul Hakim Hemat Akhundzada said.

According to Akhundzada, the number of the selected people for the Police Academy will be announced after the exam.

Officials in Police Academy recruit individuals who have completed their 12th grade (or further education), as well as those who were previously enrolled but unable to complete due to the takeover of Kabul.

“There is the measurement of height as the height is considered, they are processed and then referred to the health commission after their measurement of height,” said Mohammad Rasool a trainer in the academy.

The Ministry of Interior said there are efforts to recruit disciplined and professional people to the security forces.

“Our police should be professional, disciplined, and uniformed.  As you see, there are hundreds of police in the capital and provinces and more units who have been trained in short-term and long-term training,” said Abdul Matin Qani, the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior.

“We want the Islamic Emirate to carry out this process in a transparent manner and to select each person in the academy according to his merits,” said an applicant to the Police Academy.

Abdul Hakim Akhundzada also added that efforts to upgrade the academy into a university continue within the framework of the Ministry of Interior.
