Muttaqi Discusses Upcoming Doha Meeting With UNAMA Head

The head of UNAMA, Roza Otunbayeva, met with the acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, and discussed the latest diplomatic developments, the upcoming Doha meeting, and the report of the UN's Special Coordinator on Afghanistan, Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, a MoFA spokesman said.

Deputy spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal stated that Muttaqi once again expressed the Islamic Emirate's stance regarding the UN Security Council 2721 Resolution and emphasized the constructive interaction between the Islamic Emirate and the UN.

“Mr. Muttaqi asked for a briefing about the agenda of Doha from UNAMA. He said that the Islamic Emirate delegation will consider its participation in the meeting based on the briefing,” he said.

The political analysts meanwhile suggested that the Doha meeting is beneficial to address the current political challenges of the country.

“They should together take a decision which brings prosperity for the people of Afghanistan and also serves the interest of the world. They may recognize Afghanistan and so the existing problems will be solved,” said Gul Mohammaddin Mohammadi, a political analyst.

“This meeting will be beneficial for the Islamic Emirate because there will be direct demands from them and the Islamic Emirate will also put its demands directly. So it [Islamic Emirate] will give one thing and take another,” said Moen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate’s political commission also discussed the coming meeting on Afghanistan in Doha, a statement issued by Arg said.

The meeting was chaired by the deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir.
