UK, Russia Envoys Meet With Islamic Emirate Officials

The Russian Ambassador in a meeting with the Deputy PM for Political Affairs, highlighted the development of Kabul-Moscow relations.

The Arg in a statement said the Russian ambassador mentioned the foreign assets of Afghanistan blocked by the international community and urged the international community to remove the restrictions.

“Mr. Zhirnov referred to the blocked assets of Afghanistan and said that Russia urged the international community to lift unilateral & erroneous restrictions on Afghanistan unconditionally,” said Hamdullah Fitrat, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.

The chargé d'affaires of the UK Mission to Afghanistan, Robert Chatterton Dickson, in separate meetings with the Deputy PM for Political Affairs Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, and the Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, said that London is eager to cooperate with Kabul.

The Arg quoted the British diplomat as saying that the Islamic Emirate’s non-participation in the recent Doha meeting was unexpected and considered meetings like Doha helpful for the reconstruction of Afghanistan and its integration with the global community and asked the Islamic Emirate to participate in such meetings in the future.

“If seen, Russia's interaction with Afghanistan is indirectly a green light, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and other countries that are supported by Russia, their relationship with Afghanistan is also an indirect demand of Russia,” said Abdul Sadeq Hamidzoi, a political analyst.

Previously, the officials of the UK and Russia expressed concerns over the activity of terrorist organizations and the violation of human rights, especially the rights of girls and women in Afghanistan.
