Flooding in Several Provinces Results in Fatalities, Property Damage

Flooding in the provinces of Faryab, Badghis, Farah, and Sar-e Pol have claimed the lives of at least five people.

Local authorities in these provinces said that in addition to the casualties, the floods have caused significant financial damage to farmers.

One hundred residential houses, a school and mosque, three water mills, and two major bridges have been destroyed in the floods, and hundreds of acres of agricultural land have also been damaged.

"In these floods, a school, a mosque, two water mills, forty bridge bases and small bridges, sixty water barriers, and more than 500 acres of farmland, as well as more than one hundred residential homes, were destroyed," Esmatullah Moradi, the spokesperson for the governor of Faryab, told TOLOnews.

"As a result of the floods in Sar-e Pol province, hundreds of acres of agricultural land have been destroyed, and the roads to the districts of Kohistanat and Albadr are blocked," said Sefatullah Sufwan, the head of Natural Disaster Management in Sar-e Pol.

At the same time, those affected in the provinces of Faryab, Badghis, Farah, and Sar-e Pol are calling for immediate assistance. They have said that their possessions have been destroyed.

"The flood has ruined everything, damaged all the houses, and also destroyed the village's mill," said Nooruddin, a local resident.

"All our possessions are gone, and we have no food to eat. We want them to help us," said Abdul Wadood, another individual affected by the flooding.

This is while the Meteorology Department of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has warned of the possibility of rain and snowfall accompanied by floods in 24 provinces of the country during this week.
