The annual Pistachio Flower Festival took place in the pistachio forests of Badghis Province.
Thousands of citizens from various provinces traveled to Badghis to participate in the festival.
Local wrestling is part of the Pistachio Flower Festival, with competitions held between athletes of this sport.
The festival continues for several days and includes sports displays and local programs.
Najibullah, a resident of Badghis, said: “In the Ab Kamari district of Badghis Province, we have a pistachio flower festival. The people of Badghis warmly welcome their guests who come from all over Afghanistan.”
Mirajan, a resident of Kandahar, said: “This is a very good place where people from all over Afghanistan come together in unity and joy. Here we have festivities, and our time is spent in happiness.”
In the local wrestling competitions, wrestlers from Badghis and Kandahar test their strength.
According to the officials from the Badghis Department of Sports, promoting and developing local sports is one of the goals of the Pistachio Flower Festival.
Faizullah Fayaz, the head of Physical Education and Sport in Badghis, said: “We want to revive local sports. Today’s competitions involve local wrestling among 400 athletes from Kandahar and Badghis.”
In recent weeks, with the warming weather, the pistachio forests of Badghis have become lush, drawing thousands of the country's citizens to them.
Sayed Agha Rafaq, a cultural activist in Badghis, said: “People enjoy various entertainment and recreational programs according to the culture and traditions of these people; some local games are performed. The most popular sports here include local wrestling, horse riding, and racing.”
The pistachio area of Badghis, which includes thousands of hectares of pistachio forests, is located in the Ab Kamari district of the province.
Due to its favorable climate and extensive greenery, the pistachio forests of Badghis have become a major recreational site for the country's citizens.
