An explosion was reported in PD9, in Pul-e-Charkhi area, close to the Independent Election Commission’s offices at about 1.40pm on Monday. 

Hashmat Stanekzai, the Kabul police chief's spokesman, said at least one policeman was killed and another wounded when a suicide bomber, on foot, detonated his explosives.

Police have cordoned off the area and blocked Jalalabad Road.  

The protesters converged in the area around the IEC’s offices early Monday in protest against the disqualification of 35 parliamentary election candidates.
