The security forces have been evacuated from the center of Sangin in Helmand and have been moved to a military base about 3km away following heavy clashes with insurgents, a high-ranking government source told TOLOnews on Thursday.
The source said that after the evacuation of the security forces from the center, the Taliban returned to those areas.
The source added that the security forces moved all their equipment out on Wednesday night before the air force bombed the installations in order to destroy them.
However, officials have not yet commented over the move.
Sangin has witnessed numerous heavy clashes over the past few months and insurgents have carried out ongoing attacks against military bases and police headquarters.
