At least three insurgents were killed in an ongoing operation conducted by security forces in northern Baghlan province, local officials said on Sunday.
In addition, 17 others were injured.
The operation was launched on Friday along the Pul-e-Khumri-Baghlan highway to clear the area of insurgents. According to Ikramuddin Sareh, provincial police chief, the insurgents had been causing problems for motorists using the highway.
“The operation is also receiving support from the air force and so far a number of parts of the area have been cleared of insurgents,” he said.
However, he did not provide more details about the operation.
