Sources told Tolonews on Wednesday that leading members of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) disagree about the announcement of election results.

This comes a day after IEC Commissioner Awrangzeb said that the commission was considering announcing the results on Wednesday

Maulana Mohammad Abdullah, a commissioner of the IEC, said that by law the IEC can`t announce the partial or initial results before processing of all provinces votes.

“We can`t announce initial results based on the fourth article of the law…We should finalize the recount in the remaining  stations which are “clean” and without any headache as soon as possible,” said Abdullah.

Meanwhile, sources told Tolonews that members of the IEC have not agreed about the result announcement yet.

Abdullah Abdullah, chief executive and presidential candidate, has written on his Facebook account that announcement results without investigating the electoral teams’ complaints will not be acceptable for them.

Rahmatullah Nabil, another presidential candidate warned the IEC and said, “The election results will affect the upcoming government. We have a weak government now--the upcoming government will be weaker than national unity government, it will not solve any problems.”

This comes as the IEC recounted around 7000 polling station votes in 27 provinces of the country, but the process was halted by some candidates’ supporters in seven provinces.
