Unknown gunmen shot dead a reporter on Sunday evening in Zabul province, security officials said Monday. According to the officials the reporter, Yaqoub Sharafat, worked for Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) network.

Officials said that he was with his family at the time of the shooting. They said Sharafat was leaving a clinic with his wife when gunmen opened fire. Since start of the current year up to 50 cases of violence against Afghan journalists have been recoreded in Afghnistan including 14 murder cases.
