The Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) has shared a draft law with the Prime Minister’s Office which is aimed at bringing reforms to the pharmaceutical industry.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, head of the AFDA, Abdulbari Omar, called on investors to invest in the sector in Afghanistan.

“We have formed a committee and this law is finalized,” he said.

The income of the AFDA has reached 33.9 million Afs this year.

“Over the past four months, medicine worth of $60 million has been imported to Afghanistan and this is a very less amount,” Omar said.

According to him, there are 300 types of medicines are produced in Afghanistan.

“Our arms are opened for all investors, both at national and international levels. Everyone can come and establish factories,” he said.

Doctors said that medicines produced in Afghanistan have good quality.

“The production of medicines in Afghanistan is good news and it is encouraging for all Afghans,” said Abdullah Ahmadi, a medical doctor.
