COVID-19 Latest: 159 of 572 Test Positive

The Ministry of Public Health on Friday reported 159 new cases of COVID-19 out of 572 samples tested in the last 24 hours, but it reported 32 deaths, a record number of victims of the coronavirus in the country.

Kabul topped the list with 22 deaths in a day, following by Logar (6), Kapisa (3) and Herat (1).

The confirmed cases were reported in Kabul (109), Herat (20), Ghor (11), Paktia (4), Takhar (4), Panjshir (3), Kunar (2), Laghman (2), Wardak (1), Parwan (1), Logar (1) and Nangarhar (1).

With this, the total cumulated COVID-19 cases reached 35,229, while there are 10,874 active cases of the virus in the country.

The reported recovered cases reached 23,203 while COVID-19 deaths stand at 1,147.

Data by the Ministry of Public Health shows that so far 82,924 samples have been tested.

This comes as the lockdown is no longer being enforced in all the cities except for the closure of schools and universities that the government says will reopen on August 5.
