Afghanistan’s Export to India Increased: Officials

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce said that Afghanistan’s exports to India have increased in the past three years and they have reached $417 million in the solar year 1401 (March 2022 to March 2023).

The exports to India were $405 million in the solar year 1399 and $311 million in the solar year 1400, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s exports to Pakistan have reached over $1.2 billion in the solar year 1401 (March 2022 to March 2023) while it was $511 million in the solar year 1400, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce said in a tweet.

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment said that dried and fresh fruits and medical plants are the most exported materials of the country to India, and India is a good market for Afghan exports.

“India is a good market for Afghanistan’s exports, and we have exported to India worth $500 million annually. The exports include dried and fresh fruits and medical plants,” said Khairuddin Mayel, a member of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

Some investors called on the Islamic Emirate to provide more facilities to have good relations with the business community.

“The main issue that impedes the exports and standard import in Afghanistan is the mechanism of export arrangements or programs of lack of relations with other countries,” said Mahbubullah Mohammadi, an investor.

“We ask the Finance Ministry to solve the problem of Maiwand Bank, and also reduced the fee for transferring our money from abroad,” said Zalmai Azimi, an investor m.

According to statistics from the commerce ministry, Afghanistan’s exports reached nearly $2 billion in the solar year 1401, and the most exports were to India, Pakistan, China, and the UAE.
