Muttaqi Travels to Tehran for Palestine Conference

The Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, at the head of a delegation traveled to Tehran.

The deputy spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Zia Ahmad Takal, said that the purpose of Muttaqi's trip to Tehran is to participate in the consultative and political meeting held on the situation of Palestinian.

Takal added that the Acting Foreign Minister will also give a speech about the challenges in Palestine in the meeting.

"The Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi went to Iran at the official invitation of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran's foreign minister. The purpose of the foreign minister's visit to Tehran is to participate in the high-level conference on the resolution of the Palestinian issue, which is scheduled to be held tomorrow,” he further added.

Some political analysts consider Muttaqi’s presence in such meetings important for the stance of the Islamic Emirate.

"Our foreign minister went to Iran. Iran is one of the supporters of the Palestinians, not only Iran, but also Lebanon and Yemen. We, the Muslims must stand against the oppression that is taking place in Gaza, which I must say is  international terrorism,” Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst, told TOLOnews.

“Iran is an influential country in regional politics, especially in the Middle East. If the Islamic Emirate, Iran and the countries of the region can have a positive and significant views about Palestine and other policies. It can have a good position and can have impact on both confidence-building policies and Afghanistan's legal status,” Sayed Muqadam Amin, another political analyst, told TOLOnews.

Previously, the acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, at the graduation ceremony of Kabul University, said that Afghan people are revolutionary people, they are people of action rather than words.
