Female Students in Parwan Call for Girls' Schools to be Reopened

Female students in Parwan province, facing closed schools, have resorted to playing sports.

“Any type of hijab that the government rules, we are ready to wear it in order to have the opportunity to go to school and play sports,” said Samira, a student.

“The door of schools and stadiums have been closed for girls and for this reason we have mental and emotional problems,” said Zahra, a student.

These students urged the government to reopen schools for girls as soon as possible.

“l miss my teachers, classmates ... and we ask the government to reopen schools for girls,” said Maryam, a student.

“I study with my mother, father, and brother and I hope that the government reopens our schools,” said Sadiya, a student.

Meanwhile, officials of the Education Department in Parwan said that the Islamic Emirate has not received a decision for reopening schools above grade six.

“Education is obligatory for men and women, according to the policy of the Islamic Emirate, we will open the schools,” said Mohammad Hassan, head of education in Parwan.

Meanwhile, the acting minister of Education, on a trip to Bamiyan, said that consultations for the reopening of secondary schools for girls have begun.
