Zaranj-Delaram Highway To Be Completed by End of Ramadan: Officials

The construction work of the Zaranj-Delaram highway in Nimroz, which connects Afghanistan to the Chabahar port in Iran, has progressed by fifty percent.

According to officials, the project is expected to be completed and operational in less than a month.

The Zaranj-Delaram highway is considered one of the most important transit routes in the country, holding significant importance for the transportation of commercial goods as well.

"The work on this highway has been contracted with a company for 25 million Afghanis, and so far, 50% of the work has progressed, and the asphalt work of this highway has also now begun," said Jan Mohammad Badri, the head of public works in Nimroz.

"In the areas where we are located, the work has progressed step by step, solidifying the foundation, and now you witness that we are applying asphalt," said Najibullah, the project engineer.

A number of drivers on this route have called on the caretaker government officials for strict supervision of the quality of this project's work.

"We are very happy about this route because it will create convenience for us once it is done," said Abdul Khaliq, a driver.

"What you see here used to be a plain, vehicles would go up and get stuck, whether it's the Taliban or the engineers, we want them to pay attention to fixing this road," said Farooq, another driver.

The reconstruction of the Zaranj-Delaram highway, which is 218 kilometers long and 10 meters wide, costs 25 million Afghanis, paid from the budget of the Ministry of Public Works.
