Eid al-Fitr Poetry Event Promotes Culture in Paktia

A poetry event has been launched in Zurmat district of Paktia to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr.

Qader Shah Binawa, a local poet from Paktia, organized a cultural program in the remote area of Khwajaghano in the Zurmat district at his own expense.

He says that he initiated this effort with the goal of starting cultural programs in remote areas.

Qader Shah Binawa told TOLOnews: “I have previously organized a similar poetry program. Today, I am very happy like it’s Eid because people have participated in this program with security being provided.”

Participants of the program mentioned that this district was one of the most insecure in Paktia in the past, but with improved security, they have now been able to hold this cultural event.

According to them, several poets from the provinces of Kabul, Laghman, Paktika, and other areas have attended this poetry session.

Fazlur Rahman Waqar, a participant, said: "We ask the youth to be fearless and to work for their culture, literature, and language, and to encourage other young people to do the same."

Another participant, Dawood Nasiri, said: 'In the past, poets and writers in Zormat Paktia felt fearful, but now they are revived, and initiating such programs is essential for creating unity.'

Participants of this event are calling on officials to continue organizing such cultural programs to strengthen unity among the people.
