Zabul police said Sunday that Taliban killed provincial Ulema Council deputy Mawlawi Abdul Hakim.
Mirwais Noorzai, chief of Zabul police said Hakim’s body was found Sunday morning in the Barakhan area of Shah Joy district.
Zabul police said that Hakim had been kidnapped three days ago from Qalat city of Zabul province and taken to Arghandab district by the Taliban.
The reason behind the murder is not clear but Zabul police said that he often had critical views about the Taliban and Pakistan.
Hakim always blamed Pakistan for the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, police said.
Zabul provincial council also confirmed Hakim’s murder and said he had been killed by the Taliban.
The Taliban has not commented about the killing.
