Although President Ghani nearly 18 months ago called for the creation of the Afghan Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, the authority has not yet been established.

Meanwhile, officials at the Fuel and Liquid Gas Enterprise Afghanistan (FLGE) do not consider it their responsibility to oversee the oil and gas market and to prevent overselling in the market.
