The national budget for the solar year of 1402 was approved nearly one month ago by the Islamic Emirate’s leadership but the specific financial amounts have yet to be determined.

The deputy minister of Economy, Abdul Latif Nazari, said that a sufficient budget has been considered for development projects in 1402 (solar year). However, he did not provide details about the value of the budget.

“In this year’s budget, all sides of development (projects) have been considered—the economic improvement and empowerment of infrastructures of Afghanistan,” he said.

On June 2, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told TOLOnews that the budget for 1402 was confirmed.

Economists said that the national budget should be provided to the government administrations.

“Whenever the value of the budget is not announced, it confuses the people and it can also have a negative impact on the economic sector of the country,” said Abdul Zahor Mudabir, an economist.

“When the budget is not provided to the governmental organizations, public service is diminished and affects the economic development,” said Mir Shikib Mir, an economist.

Despite repeated attempts, TOLOnews was unable to obtain comment from the Ministry of Finance.

The fiscal budget for the 1401 fiscal year was 231 billion Afs with 203 billion Afs in the regular budget and 27.9 billion Afs in the development budget.
