200 Tankers With Low-Quality Fuel Rejected in Past Month: ANSA

The Afghanistan National Standards Authority said that more than 200 tankers with low quality fuel have been denied entry to Afghanistan.

A spokesman for ANSA, Ashoqullah Waziri, said that at least 17 tankers were prevented from entering Afghanistan on Wednesday.

“The real figures show that 200 tankers of fuel which have entered from different ports and different countries were turned back in one month. Within the last day, more than 17 fuel tankers were returned via various ports,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment also urged traders to consider standardization of goods being imported to Afghanistan.

“We should always import standard goods and I ask the ANSA office to adjust its machines to standard levels so the people can trust the machines,” said Mohammad Younus Momand, deputy head of ACCI.

“The standardization of imported material does not significantly improve the quality of the commodities being imported,” said Shakir Yaqoobi, an economist.

ANSA stressed that the traders need to import commodities based on standard measures determined by the organization.
