MoF To Improve Services In Customs And Ports

Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Monday said the World Bank (WB) has provided $100 million USD to Fiscal Performance Improvement Support Project (FPISP) for Afghanistan and that part of the money will be invested in ports and customs to provide more facilities to Afghan traders.

Finance ministry Iklik Hakimi said through this project they will improve financial management in the finance ministry, National Procurement Authority and also in High Audit Office.

Hakimi said this project will help them to invest development budget in a much better way and also to collect national revenues more transparently.

“This year all our concentrations are to create more facilities and improve services for our people, especially for our traders and private sector in customs and to establish new systems,” said Hakimi.

Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) meanwhile said government should standardize services in customs and ports as this will help in fighting corruption and increase national revenues.

“If the decision gets transferred to a system and the system works, corruption will decrease. Also, we need more storages in customs which should be established,” ACCI spokesman Seyam Pesarlay said.
