A well-known Pashto writer and translator, Ustad Zainullah Manalai, who published 30 books and at least 150 articles, died at the age of 96 on Saturday because of illness, said his family.
Zainullah Manalai was born in the eastern province of Nangarhar in 1924 (1303), and he graduated from Najmul Madaris Madrasa in 1954 (1333).
“At 86 years of age, Manalia was studying the basics of Indian religion and analyzing it. "At 86 he also translated Shahnama to Pashto,” said Najibullah Manalai, son of Zainullah Mananlai.
Translations of Shahnameh Ferdowsi, Gulistan Saeedi and Manṭiq Al Thir in Pashto are his famous works.
"My elder sister started her education with my father's support in male schools and she continued her education by his support,” said Bresha Tasmim, Manalai's daughter.
Zainullah Manalai will be remembered for trying his very best to serve the Pashto language and literature. There were at least 15 pieces of writings of writing still unpublished at the time of his death.
