Five schoolteachers were abducted by the Taliban in Shindand district in Herat province, in the west of Afghanistan, on Thursday, local officials confirmed.
Herat governor’s spokesman Farhad Jailani confirmed the report and said the schoolteachers were abducted from a village in Shindand district.
He told TOLOnews that one of the schoolteachers was killed by the Taliban on Thursday evening after they were kept in custody by the group.
A photo of the killed schoolteacher was posted by many Facebook users on Friday which shows him in a protest in the province.
Jailani said the fate of other schoolteachers is unknown so far.
This comes after three employees of a road construction company were kidnapped by unknown armed men in Herat on Tuesday. Their fate is still unknown, local official said.
Taliban has not commented on the report about abduction of the schoolteachers.
