India Wins Starter of Series with Afghanistan

The Indian national cricket team won first match of the series against Afghanistan by six wickets taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After winning the toss, the host elected to field first in Mohali, Punjab.

The Afghan team put a target of 159 runs with the prominent Afghan all-rounder Muhammad Nabi becoming the top scorer with his 42 of 27 balls followed by the young fast-bowling all-rounder, Azmatullah Omarzai who made 29 runs off 22 deliveries.

India chased the target in 19th over of the game as it lost 4 players.

Shivam Dube with his unbeaten 60 runs off 40 balls with the bat and one wicket with the ball was named as player of the match.

Both teams will play their second match on 14 January in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
