Citizens voiced concern over the closure of girls' schools above the sixth grade, saying they expected that the leader of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, would mention the reopening of girls' schools in his remarks for Eid.

They remarked that the leader of the Islamic Emirate did not comment on issues such as the reopening of girls’ schools, poverty and unemployment in recent remarks for Eid. 

"The message of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate was published, it was expected to address the opening of girls' schools, poverty and unemployment,” said Ziauddin Zia, a resident of Parwan.

“During Eid in the past, people could afford to buy new clothes, dry fruits, but during this Eid few people were able to buy,” said Fardin Kohistani, a resident of Kapisan.

Meanwhile, some families in the country urged the Islamic Emirate to reopen girls’ schools as soon as possible.

“My daughter is asking me about when schools will reopen. She tells me that she is forgetting her lessons. Her wirds really affect me,” said Mohammad Idris Sekandari, a resident of Parwan.

Kabul has often promised to reopen girls’ schools over sixth grade, but these promises have yet to be implemented.
