First Round of University Entrance Exams Held Without Girls

The first round of university examinations of the 1402 solar year was held on Thursday in 11 of 34 provinces without the presence of female students.

According to the officials, the examination will be taken in two days, in which at least 24,000 people are attending.

“There are 24,000 people attending the examination in 11 provinces which will take place today and tommarrow,” said Qudratullah Ahmadi, a member of the national examination authority.

“You try to complete your education and the Islamic Emirate will make efforts to provide jobs for you,” said Abdul Rahman Haqqani, governor of Baghlan, while speaking at the examination event.

Meanwhile, some of the female students who are not allowed to attend the examination expressed criticism towards the officials of the Islamic Emirate for not allowing girls to attend the examination.

“We also want to be part of it and form our future. Please, I request they allow girls to get their education,” said Hadia Mohammadi, a student.

“They should also allow the girls to get an education. Everyone including the families have requested the reopening of schools for the girls,” said Fatima, a resident of Jawzjan.

“If the Afghan girls have the education and knowledge, a good government will be created. Today is the examination day for university entrance but we girls are deprived of it,” said Jamia Amini, a resident of Jawzjan.

Some of the male students also called on the interim government to allow the female students to participate in the examination.

“Our main wish is to reopen the universities and schools,” said Mohammad Ghafran, a participant of the university entrance examination in Jawzjan.

“Education is obligatory for all Muslims. There is nothing suggesting that the men should learn but not girls,” said Amrullah Safi, a participant of a university entrance examination in Jawzjan.

Earlier, the National Examination Authority (NEXA) said that only male students can attend the university entrance examination this year.
