The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) said that in the past year "more than 2.5 million" electronic ID cards have been distributed.

According to the department, since the Islamic Emirate came to power, more than 4.6 million electronic ID cards have been distributed.

Acting head of the NSIA, Faqir Mohammad Ziar, said that 6,500 employees are working in the department.

Ziar said that at least 74 centers of electronic IDs are active in the country.

15 of these centers, including the center of public service, are present in Kabul.

“Since the Islamic Emirate came to power, 4.6 million electronic identity cards have been distributed. And 10.7 million IDs have been distributed since the start of electronic ID distribution,” Ziar said.

“The survey about income and spending, work force and health issues, is underway,” said Esmatullah Hakimi, deputy head of the NSIA.

An official of the NSIA, Abdul Matin Salak, said that the department used modern geographical methods to assess the destruction inflicted by the Amu River in the country.

“Over these years, 320 km square meters in four provinces including Takhar, Kunduz, Balkh and Jawzjan have been damaged by the Amu River,” he said.

The NSIA said that within one year, 130 cases were assessed in this organization, in which 32 million Afs have been saved to the government’s budget.

According to officials, 39 employees and nearly 40 other people who were from department have been referred to the judicial departments on charges of corruption.
