Religious Clerics of Various Countries Visited Afghanistan in Last 2 Years

The religious clerics of various countries have visited Afghanistan over the last two years and met with officials of the Islamic Emirate to discuss various issues, including girls' education and women’s access to work.

The Islamic Emirate came to power on August 15, 2021. In July 2022, a number of religious clerics came  from Pakistan and in October 2022, a religious clerics' delegation from Turkey arrived in Afghanistan. In July 2023, a delegation of clerics from the UK and clerics of various Islamic countries visited Kabul.

“The Islamic Emirate may observe the recommendations of this delegation, which is a symbol of a major Islamic world organization. Their [delegation's] views regarding the improvement of the situation of Afghanistan and its relations with the world will be beneficial,” said Fazal Hadi Wazin, a university lecturer.

“The clerics know the value of Sharia. They know better what is the stance of Islam regarding education and women's work,” said Hassan Haqyar, political analyst.

The Islamic countries delegation on Sunday met with the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Abdul Salam Hanafi, the office of the deputy PM said.

Hanafi in the meeting stressed unity among the Islamic countries toward international issues.

“Their consultations were in various areas. It also included the education sector as well. We indicated that the Ulema [clerics] have come to Afghanistan time after time,” said Zabiullah Mujahid, Islamic Emirate’s spokesman.

The delegation also met with the acting Defense Minister, Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid.

Mawlawi Yaqoob appreciated the cooperation of Islamic countries with the Afghan people and said that these kinds of meetings would affect bilateral relations among countries, a statement of the Defense Ministry said, adding that he also mentioned Palestine and said that Palestine will win the war.

Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi, head of the religious scholars, said in the meeting that Islamic countries will continue to support the Afghan people.
