With the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, the tailoring market in the capital, Ankara has flourished.
Some tailors say that as Eid al-Fitr approaches, their customers increase more than ever before, and sometimes they are forced to work until late at night.
Noroz Ali, who has been busy tailoring for over ten years, says that these days, the market for traditional Afghan clothes is hotter than ever, and for this reason, he and his apprentices work on their customers' orders until late at night.
Noroz Ali told TOLOnews: "It's Eid, business, by the grace of God, is very good, especially for shirts, pants, and vests."
Samiullah, a tailor, said: "For Eid, there are only nine to ten days left, work on shirts, pants, and vests is less, but the work on shirts and pants is very good, usually, at this time, most of our customers are mujahideen [Taliban]."
Zeinullah, another tailor, says: "Our business is 24/7, employees, by the grace of God, work both at night and during the day, just here is where the collection is made, and in the workshop, it's very large, where they sew."
The Kabul Municipality on the other hand says that it has set and distributed a rate list for tailors in all areas to sew clothes for the residents of Kabul.
Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of the Kabul Municipality, said: "Specifically, in the areas of Baharestan, Shahr-e-Now, and Wazir Akbar Khan, the fee for adult clothing is four hundred Afghanis [over $5], and for children under twelve years, specifically two hundred and fifty Afghanis [$3.5] in all areas."
Every year, with the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, Afghans order clothes for themselves and their families in preparation for Eid and celebrate on the days of Eid.
