Muttaqi Meets Iran Envoy Qomi, Strengthening Ties Discussed

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Foreign Minister, emphasized strengthening relations between Kabul and Tehran in a meeting with the Iranian ambassador and special representative to Afghanistan, Hassan Kazemi Qomi.

The Foreign Ministry stated that during this meeting, both sides discussed regional developments, the expansion of relations, and other topics.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, the Deputy Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, mentioned that Hassan Kazemi Qomi, expressed satisfaction with the removal of obstacles in water delivery to Sistan and added that this action is significant in expanding bilateral relations between Kabul and Tehran.

“The meeting focused on regional progress, strengthening relations, and some bilateral issues,” Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said.

Meanwhile, some political analysts consider the expansion of relations between Kabul and Tehran important and believe that the Islamic Emirate should strengthen its relationships with neighboring countries more than before.

Najib Rahman Shamal, a political analyst, told TOLOnews, “Having an Afghanistan with peace and security, and one that has a rule-of-law government aligned with the will of the Afghan people, can play a significant role in consolidating peace and stability in the region.”

Saleem Paigir, another political analyst, said: “In today's circumstances, Iran has no alternative but the Islamic Emirate, yet the people of Afghanistan expect to have very close interactions with major countries that can make significant investments in Afghanistan.”

According to the statement from the Foreign Ministry, Hassan Kazemi Qomi in this meeting appreciated the stance of the Islamic Emirate against the Israeli attack on Gaza.
