At least 12 security forces were killed and five others were wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Jawzjan province on Tuesday night, a local official said on Wednesday.
The Taliban attacked two security checkpoints in Aqcha district, said Marouf Azar, a spokesman for the provincial governor.
“Five Taliban were also killed and 10 others were wounded in the clashes,” he said, adding that “the Taliban have taken four security force members captive and also stole a humvee.”
“Two other vehicles were destroyed in the attack,” he added.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
