Govt Allocates ‎2.17bn Afs To Help IDPs

Refugees and Repatriation Minister Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi on Wednesday said government has allocated more than 2.17 billion Afghanis to address the challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the upcoming winter.

Balkhi said that over 23,000 displaced families have returned to their homes in different parts of the country.

"According to our assessments, we need 2.17 billion Afghanis to help the displaced families in the upcoming winter season," the minister said.

He stated that government has distributed primary assistance to Kunduz, Helmand and Farah's ‎displaced families.

"The president has allocated a huge amount of money for the families that have been displaced due to the war. He has ordered to send cash to a number of provinces in order to help the families," said Mohammad Aslam Sayas, acting director of Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation said they have prepared 70 vehicles to transfer Kunduz displaced families to their homes.

"We don't have state-owned transportation systems. All should be done through the private sector," said Fawzia Ehsani, deputy head of financial and administration affairs at the ministry.
