Work Starts On Housing Projects For ANDSF Families

Work on the construction of 1,000 apartments in Kabul started on Tuesday. The apartments will be given to families of members of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) who lost their lives on the battlefields.

The urban development minister Sayed Sadat Mansour Naderi said the project worth $50 million USD, is being funded by Qatar.

The project, he said, will be completed within a year.

Each building will be 14 story’s and will be in line with international construction norms, he said.

"A complete housing complex will be established here,” said Naderi.

The project is located in one of the Afghan Milli Bus Enterprise properties in Kabul’s Khoshal Khan area.

At an event on this occasion in Kabul, President Ashraf Ghani welcomed the project and called on Qatar to boost its cooperation with Afghanistan.

He said government will prioritize the needs of the families of Afghan security force members who have lost their lives on the battlefields.

“The priority will be given to the families of our defense and security force members who have lost their lives to protect the country and the people,” the president said.

According to Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, the ministry continues its efforts to start work on construction of a housing project with 10,000 apartments which will be funded byChina.
