The residents of Ghormach district of Badghis province said there are still no schools for girls in Ghormach district of Badghis province.
The residents said that the girls have been deprived of education.
Ghormach is a very remote district in Badghis.
“In Ghormach, in the past 20 years, there was no school for girls. It has not been built ... and there is no sign of the school (for girls),” said Ghawsuddin, a resident of Ghormach.
“We want more attention to this area. We want the organizations to work in the health sector here, particularly in the education sector because the girls schools which are active until grade six in other districts should be established in Ghormach as well,” said Mohammad Zaman, a resident of Badghis.
“Schools for girls and boys should be established in every district and province so that both men and women will be educated,” Hassibullah, a resident of Badghis.
The analysts also said the depression of girls over grade six who are kept from education is harmful for the future of Afghanistan.
“Lack of schools in far distant areas have had a negative impact on the knowledge, development of society and professional manpower in the country,” said Fahim Intizar, an instructor.
The local officials in Badghis also confirmed the lack of a girls' school in Ghormach.
“We made our proposal for the establishment of the schools last year as well. Some of them were approved, around two or three. The people in Ghormach also demanded it but unfortunately, the approval for the establishment of schools has not been made,” said Mohibullah Ihsan, head of Badghis' department of education.
According to the education department of Badghis, 173,209 students, 38,000 of them girls, are studying at 507 schools in the province.
