Islamic clerics and tribal elders of eastern provinces in a gathering in Kunar called for the reopening of girls' school above grade six.
They suggested the Islamic Emirate reopen the schools to earn international recognition.
“The people of this country should not remain uneducated, we need female doctors,” said Mawlawi Waliullah, a tribal elder.
“This is our right, that the schools of girls should be reopened based on Islamic law,” said Haji Gul Meeran, a tribal elder.
The participants demanded the neighboring countries to refrain from interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.
The gathering was also attended by several former members of the Parliament.
“Some people, due to lack of intellect, and some people due to foreigners' plots, are trying to create disunity. We should support the Islamic Emirate,” said Mirwais Yasini, a former member of the parliament.
“We want good relations. These relations should be based on mutual interaction,” said Saleh Mohammad, a former member of the parliament.
The Islamic Emirate said that the problems of the people will be addressed.
“The people come from Nangarhar and Nuristan, we heard their voices and will share it with the leaders,” said Sayed Ahmad Waseeq, a representative of the Islamic Emirate.
The participants also stressed the need for unity among the people of Afghanistan.
