Intercontinental Cricket Cup Fixtures Announced

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the fixtures for the Intercontinental Cricket Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates from March 2013.

Matches between Afghanistan, Scotland, UAE, Kenya, Canada, Namibia and Netherlands are scheduled for March and April next year.

The sides will also play matches at the World Cricket League with Afghanistan and Scotland playing each other along with other affiliated members of the ICC with the top teams automatically qualifying for the 2015 World Cup in Australia.

The fledgling cricket team of Afghanistan has made some remarkable achievements in previous international meets, including qualifying for the last two ICC Cricket T20 world cups but they have failed to advance in both competitions after being beaten by their prominent rival India in both T20s.

Afghanistan has recently played Australia and Pakistan in One Day Internationals; however, despite good performances, they failed to gain a victory in either match.
