Major Qadir, the deputy head of PD1 in Gardez city in Pakita province was killed on Monday morning in a Taliban attack, local officials said. 
 
Sardar Wali Tabasam, the provincial governor’s spokesman said that Qadir was killed while patrolling the area.
 
One other policeman was wounded in the attack, Tabasam added. 
 
According to Tabasam two Taliban insurgents were also killed when police returned fire. 
 
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
